Drain
Any pipe which carries off water or
water-born wastes in a plumbing drainage system.
Drain body
The portion of a drain fitting which
receives the stopper.
Drain lever
A lever assembly secured to a drain
body to lift a stopper and allow water to leave
a basin. Also known as ball lever.
P-trap
P-shaped fitting which, when
properly vented, provides a liquid seal to
prevent the emission of sewer gases.
Pop-up drain
Type of drain assembly for lavatory and
bath. When a lavatory lift rod or bath overflow
plate lever is lifted, the pop-up drain closes
so the lavatory or tub retains water.
